NIF ToolsThe NIF currently provides several different interfaces for search across the NIF resources and display of results, along with a set of tools for registering a resource to the NIF at different levels of integration and tools for linking articles indexed in Pub Med to resources in the NIF. On the backend, the NIF provides a set of services for accessing and traversing the NIF vocabularies, for indexing and searching the NIF literature archive, for expanding and modifying the NIF vocabularies and for deep query of database content through the NIF data federation. Many of these components build upon work that was funded through the BIRN, Textpresso and Senselab projects. The NIF is planning a series of technical documents that will describe these components in detail. These components will be made available through an open-source license, with the first release set for February 28th, 2008. |
